Diary of 90-Year-Old A.E. Schenck: Pioneer Descendant in the Village of Baltimore, Ohio, 1952-1953

$19.95

Sandra S. Navarro’s great-grandfather Alonzo E. Schenck had just passed his 90th birthday in November 1952 when he began to keep a diary of his daily activities. Alonzo was born in 1862, near Basil, Fairfield County, Ohio where his ancestors had been pioneer settlers and where his family had lived for 150 years. The record of his last year of life in the adjacent Ohio villages of Basil and Baltimore poetically recounts a time when entertainment was derived from visiting, physical fitness from walking, and knowledge of the outside world from newspapers and radio.
